Local Artists at the Cartier Maison

By Jessi, Concierge ·

Hello, I'm Jessi, a concierge at ONE OF ONE.

I stopped by the Cartier Maison, and they served welcome food in such a beautiful dish that I had to share it!

I heard the Van Cleef & Arpels Maison uses Bernardaud's Écume tableware. The Cartier Maison, on the other hand, made room for the work of Korean artists, which I found even more memorable.

Luxury houses often build their flagship stores as hanok, or go out of their way to bring out the character of each country. Even if it doesn't go as far as a hanok, I think using the work of local artists like this is meaningful enough.

It feels like the message isn't simply “we're opening one more store,” but “we understand and respect this country and its culture.” The more global a brand is, the easier it is for it to feel uniform. Bringing in local elements makes the brand feel closer to customers in that country.

I'd guess the glassware is by Lee Jeong-won. There are so many glass artists these days that I can't say for sure. It might be one of Lee Jeong-won, Yang Yu-wan, or Yoon Seong-yong.

The tray looks like a metal piece by Park Seong-cheol.

Either way, it was so pretty that I took a photo to bring home :)

If you visit Korea, stop by the Cartier Maison, and come see us at ONE OF ONE too, where you'll find a wide range of pre-owned Cartier pieces. We're about five minutes from the Cheongdam Maison!
